Dr. Strauss is a specialist in Periodontics and Implantology. His practice specializes in the treatment of gum disease including cosmetic procedures to aesthetically enhance your smile, and the placement of dental implants which can replace missing teeth.
Dental Implants.
Implants are a comfortable and minimally invasive way to replace a single or multiple teeth. They form a strong foundation in the jaw to place a crown. Unlike bridges, a dental implant does not require reduction of the adjacent teeth. An implant is the first line of treatment for almost any patient.
Periodontal Therapy.
Periodontics encompasses non-surgical and surgical treatment as a method to preserve the patient’s own teeth. The objective of non-surgical procedures is to remove etiologic agents such as dental plaque and calculus, which cause gingival inflammation and disease. Scaling and root planing can be used as a stand-alone treatment, or as a preventative treatment. Osseous surgery, sometimes referred to as pocket reduction surgery, refers to a number of possible surgeries aimed at gaining access to the tooth roots to remove tartar and disease-causing bacteria, mostly reserved for advanced cases.
Periodontal-Plastic Surgery.
A group of highly specialized surgical techniques to eliminate gum or bone defects with minimal incisions and specialized instruments. The benefits of these techniques include minimal to no discomfort post-operatively and almost no down time.
Laser Therapy.
Lasers can be used to treat many pathological or disease conditions in the oral cavity including: dental abscess, excess gums, pericoronitis, bone loss and others..
Frenectomy/Gingivectomy.
A minimally invasive gum surgery which can drastically improve lip function, speech and smiling. These procedures can be completed by different minimally invasive techniques which may require no stitches or injections.
Gum Grafting.
The most popular option to treat gum recession. Gum recession can expose the root of the tooth, which is yellow and more susceptible to cavities and sensitivity. Many patients with root exposure experience sensitivity to cold food and drinks. Treatment can be completed with the patient’s own tissue or an allograft to reduce the number of surgical sites. Results can last a lifetime with proper home care and follow up..
Guided Bone & Tissue Regeneration.
A treatment option to replace bone loss around teeth or in the space of a previously extracted tooth. A bone or tissue graft may be required in the treatment of ridge augmentation, sinus augmentation, or socket preservation. These advance procedures include the usage of specialized bone and cell grafts that can induce the formation of new bone and tissue around diseased teeth or implants.
Dental Trauma.
Trauma can occur in children, teenagers or adults. Whether a result of sports injuries, car accidents or bad falls, the type and severity of the injury will determine the treatment necessary. An interdisciplinary approach may be necessary to obtain a healthy and desired result..
Crown Lengthening.
A procedure used to improve the health of tissue or correct a & gummy smile. Excess gum tissue and bone can be sculpted to create more esthetic smiles. Patients can see immediate results following the completion of the procedure..
Peri-Implantitis.
Implant complications are characterized by bone loss, deep probing depths, bleeding, suppuration (pus), and possible swelling. Similar to periodontal disease around teeth, peri-implant disease is irreversible without treatment. Depending on the extent of disease, a bone graft and other material may be used to regenerate the lost bone.
Teeth Cleaning.
Professional teeth cleaning, or dental prophylaxis, is performed to thoroughly clean the teeth and gums. Teeth cleaning is an effective procedure to keep the oral cavity in proper health and prevent the progression of gum disease. The benefits include: plaque removal, a healthier smile, and fresh breath.
